eDesk alternative: marketplace helpdesk or post-purchase AI for your store
eDesk describes itself as AI-powered ecommerce customer support software. Its strength is breadth across sales channels: one mailbox for marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Mirakl, Kaufland, Veepee and TikTok Shop, plus shop systems such as Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce, Prestashop and Shopware. eDesk lists more than 300 integrations. It is operated by xSellco Limited in Dublin, Ireland.
Sondercase is built for a different store: the brand that sells through its own Shopify or WooCommerce shop. It resolves the cases that follow a purchase end to end: “where is my order?”, returns, warranty claims, cancellations, address changes and product or policy questions. It connects your support inbox plus WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook, reads live order and tracking data, replies fully automatically if you want, and fully prepares the store action for you to approve. Sondercase does not connect to marketplaces.
So the first thing to settle is where your orders come from. If Amazon and eBay carry a large part of your volume, eDesk is built for that. If your own store does, the following differences matter more.
eDesk pricing vs. Sondercase pricing
eDesk charges per agent per month, plus the AI Agent per outcome. On the official pricing page (USD; the same amounts are shown in EUR in the euro area, as of 30 October 2026):
- Essential: $45 per agent per month billed annually, $55 monthly, 1 store or marketplace
- Growth: $99 annually, $125 monthly, 5 stores or marketplaces
- Professional: $129 annually, $159 monthly, 10 stores or marketplaces
- Enterprise: custom pricing and store count (the homepage says unlimited)
The AI Agent costs $0.99 per outcome on all plans. eDesk counts an outcome when the AI actually answers the customer or takes action, once per ticket. eDesk also offers a 30-day guarantee: if eDesk does not start reducing your support workload within 30 days, you do not pay.
Sondercase has flat monthly plans in euros: Starter €39 (150 AI drafts, 15 store actions, about 100 resolved cases), Growth €89 (750 drafts, 75 actions, about 400 cases) and Scale €199 (2,500 drafts, 250 actions, about 1,500 cases). Billed yearly: €29, €69 and €159 per month. All features and your whole team are included in every plan.
Worked example. Two people in support, monthly billing, the AI resolves 300 tickets a month, at most 75 of them with a store action. On eDesk Essential: 2 × $55 = $110 for agents plus 300 × $0.99 = $297 for AI outcomes, so $407 per month (€407 at eDesk’s euro prices), for one store. On Sondercase Growth, the same team pays €89 per month, which covers about 400 resolved cases, 750 AI drafts and 75 store actions. The workflow differs too: on eDesk, actions attached to an outcome only run when the AI auto-sends the reply; on Sondercase, replies can run automatically and store actions come fully prepared for your approval. Note that eDesk’s AI cost grows with every outcome, while Sondercase’s price only changes when you move to a larger plan.
Store actions: AI procedures vs. fully prepared actions
eDesk’s help center documents AI Agent procedures that tell the AI how to reply and which actions to take, with templates such as “Return, Refund & Replacement” and “Cancellation”. These procedures check the order status, approve or decline a request, or escalate it to a human agent. According to the same article, actions attached to an outcome, such as a refund, only happen if the AI Agent auto-sends the reply. For human agents on Shopify, eDesk documents per-item refunds, cancellations and replacement orders from the ticket.
With Sondercase, replies can run fully automatically, category by category. A refund, cancellation or address change comes fully prepared with a confidence score and its reasoning; you release it with one click, and it runs in Shopify or WooCommerce. Return cases run through a returns portal that provides the return label, exchanges run as replacement orders. Uncertain cases go to a human instead of being guessed. More on Shopify and WooCommerce.
Built for D2C post-purchase cases in DACH
Because Sondercase only does post-purchase support for your own store, it covers that area in more detail. It reads tracking from carriers such as DHL, DPD and GLS for “where is my order?” questions, handles warranty claims, and treats German consumer law as part of the product: the statutory right of withdrawal and statutory warranty are floors that your own policy cannot go below. If you want to check the legal basics, see the guide to the EU right of withdrawal.
Channels
eDesk brings marketplace messaging together with email, live chat, WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook; AI translation is a paid add-on at $21 per agent per month. Sondercase covers your support inbox, WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook in every plan, and replies in the customer’s language and your brand’s tone.
Data protection: two European providers
Both companies are based in Europe. eDesk’s privacy policy says data is processed in the UK and the European Economic Area, with Amazon Web Services EMEA as the named hosting provider, and some suppliers outside that area covered by safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
Sondercase is a German company based in Dresden. Data is processed in the EU wherever a provider allows it; third-country processors such as the AI model are covered by EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the Data Privacy Framework. The DPA is concluded automatically at onboarding, and every subprocessor is named in the privacy policy.
Testing Sondercase without risk
Both tools offer a 14-day trial without a credit card. Sondercase adds a live demo you can run before signing up: enter your store domain, and Sondercase resolves a real support case using only public store data. During the trial, you start in draft mode and switch replies to automatic once they are right. Setup is guided, with no engineering and no migration. Plans can be cancelled monthly, with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Conclusion
eDesk is a strong choice for sellers whose orders come through Amazon, eBay, Kaufland and other marketplaces and who want one mailbox for all of them. If your orders run through your own Shopify or WooCommerce store, Sondercase is the eDesk alternative that resolves the case in that store, from tracking question to refund, for one flat euro price.
