Tidio alternative: website chat or post-purchase resolution
Tidio is a live chat tool with a chatbot builder (Flows) and the Lyro AI agent. You add the chat widget to your store, Lyro answers questions from your uploaded knowledge, and your team takes over in the shared inbox. Tidio offers a free plan and says you can start in under five minutes. Lyro works on live chat, email, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp and speaks 48 languages, including formal and informal German.
Sondercase starts where most store support actually happens: after the purchase, in the inbox. “Where is my order?”, returns, warranty claims, cancellations, address changes, product and policy questions. Sondercase connects your existing support inbox plus WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook, reads live order and tracking data from your store and carriers, replies fully automatically if you want, and fully prepares the matching store action for you to approve.
So the two tools answer different questions. Tidio helps you talk to visitors on your website. Sondercase resolves the case once a customer has an order. If that second part fills your day, the following differences matter.
Order actions: Lyro Actions vs. built-in store actions
Lyro can call external systems through Lyro Actions or connected MCP servers. Lyro Actions are API calls you configure to check order status, change addresses or update data. Tidio’s help center describes these actions as meant for advanced users or developers, and states that Lyro does not validate or roll back your integrations. Tidio’s own team helps configure them only from the Plus plan up. The number of actions is limited: one on the free plan, three with the Lyro AI Agent package, ten on Plus.
The only pre-built Lyro Action template for e-commerce is “Get order status” for Shopify, available on Plus and Premium and, in testing, to selected Lyro package subscribers. Tidio’s Lyro Action template list contains no template for cancellations, refunds or address changes (as of 7 October 2026). The rule-based Flows chatbot builder also offers a Shopify “Check Order Status” node for orders from the last 60 days. In Tidio’s Shopify panel, your human agents can cancel unfulfilled orders and issue refunds (both from the Growth plan up), and edit shipping addresses.
Sondercase brings these actions built in. Replies can run fully automatically, category by category. A refund, cancellation or address change comes fully prepared with a confidence score and its reasoning; one click from you and it runs in Shopify or WooCommerce. Uncertain cases go to a human. No API configuration, no developer time.
Tidio pricing vs. Sondercase pricing
Tidio’s official pricing page (USD, as of 7 October 2026):
- Free: $0, 50 billable conversations a month, 10 seats, 50 Lyro conversations once
- Starter: $24.17 per month billed annually ($290 per year), 100 billable conversations
- Growth: from $49.17 per month billed annually ($590 per year), from 250 billable conversations
- Plus: from $300 per month plus monthly usage; Premium: on request
- Lyro AI add-on: from $32.50 per month billed annually for 50 Lyro conversations
Two counting rules are worth knowing. A billable conversation is one that includes a message from a human agent. According to Tidio’s help center, a Lyro conversation is counted per thread and a thread closes after 15 minutes of inactivity, so a later reply can start a new count; the FAQ on Tidio’s pricing page, however, says a returning customer still counts as one conversation. The 50 free Lyro conversations are a one-off quota; once used, Lyro stops working until you add a package.
Sondercase has flat monthly plans in euros, AI and store actions included: Starter €39 (150 AI drafts, 15 store actions, about 100 resolved cases), Growth €89 (750 drafts, 75 actions, about 400 cases) and Scale €199 (2,500 drafts, 250 actions, about 1,500 cases). Billed yearly: €29, €69 and €159 per month. Your whole team is included in every plan.
Worked example. On Tidio Growth with the smallest Lyro package, annual billing: $49.17 + $32.50 = from $81.67 per month for 250 conversations with your team and 50 Lyro conversations, with AI order actions only through integrations you configure yourself (Lyro Actions or MCP servers). On Sondercase Starter, €39 per month covers about 100 resolved post-purchase cases, with up to 15 store actions such as refunds or address changes, each fully prepared for your approval.
WooCommerce: chat widget vs. store actions
Tidio’s help center documents product cards and product recommendations for WooCommerce. We found no WooCommerce order actions there (as of 7 October 2026). Sondercase reads WooCommerce orders, tracking and customer history live and fully prepares refunds, cancellations and address changes there for your approval, the same way as in Shopify.
Returns and WISMO
We found no returns module on Tidio’s official pages. Its marketing page names return initiation as a use case for Lyro Actions, which again means a custom API or MCP integration. In Sondercase, returns are part of every plan: the customer gets the link to the returns portal and their return label through it, and the refund or exchange comes fully prepared and runs in your store once you approve it. For “where is my order?” questions, Sondercase reads tracking from DHL, DPD, GLS and more and answers with the customer’s real shipment status, fully automatically if you want. See WISMO automation and automated returns.
Data and language
Tidio states that all its data is stored on servers in the European Economic Area, on AWS in the EU, and that Lyro is powered by Claude from Anthropic. Tidio’s panel is available in German, while Tidio keeps English as its primary communication language for its help center, blog and homepage.
Sondercase is a German company based in Dresden. Data is processed in the EU wherever a provider allows it; third-country processors such as the AI model are covered by EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the Data Privacy Framework, and the DPA is concluded automatically at onboarding. Product and support are in German and English, and German consumer law is built in.
Testing Sondercase without risk
Enter your store domain in the live demo and watch Sondercase resolve a real support case from your store, using only public data and without signup. The 14-day trial needs no credit card, setup is guided with no engineering and no migration, and you start in draft mode and switch replies to automatic once they are right. Plans can be cancelled monthly, with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Conclusion
Tidio is a strong choice for website live chat, visitor flows and a free start. If your workload is the post-purchase case, where customers want their tracking status, a return, a refund or a new address, Sondercase is the Tidio alternative that resolves it with live store data and prepares the store action for your approval, without developers. Many questions behind that choice are covered in the guide to AI in customer service.
